Science:
This week we will be starting off the week with our last lesson of the unit 2.6 “The Rock Cycle”. We will be completing a lab experiment during MAP testing using crayons to simulate a rock’s journey through the rock cycle. On Friday April 26th we will be having our test over chapter 2. Students received their study guides which include the possible essay questions for the test Wednesday of last week (April 17th):
ü Describe one of the rock examples we made in class (sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic lab). Why was that activity a good example of that type of rock? What did each of the ingredients in the example represent?
ü What does a mineral’s streak tell you, and how do you test for it? Why is this a better test than color?
ü Describe what geologists do to determine the mineral composition of a rock.
ü You find a rock with fossils in it. Is it more likely to be a sedimentary rock or an igneous rock? Explain.
Please make sure students have completed their notes packets and vocabulary prior to the 26th. Thank you for all that you do!
