Science: This week we will be continuing our first unit assessment: "Who Stole the Apple Pie?" Lab. Students will have the beginning of the week to complete the lab and then we will be taking our pretest over our first major unit: States of Matter, Heat, and Electricity on Thursday August 29th. We will also be getting our books on the 29th so students can look forward to that as well!
Homeroom: We will be voting for our student council representatives on Wednesday August 26th. Students have been asked to deliver a short speech before the vote, and I just know that whoever wins will be fantastic!
Monday: Today we continued our "Who Stole the Apple Pie?" Lab. We still have a few tests to run tomorrow before our baseline tests are done and we can move on to analyzing the evidence and catching the thieves. I am so proud of how hard and focused the students are working they have been one great group!
Tuesday: Today we continued our "Who Stole the Apple Pie?" Lab. We finished up the remaining tests on the control powders and met in our expert groups to discuss results. We then talked about how important it was to have known samples completed before we test unknown samples so that we can make accurate comparisons to catch the thieves. We ended the class with deciding the best tests to perform on the Mystery Powder based on our known results and came up with taste (salt), reaction to heat (sugar), reaction to vinegar (baking soda), and reaction to iodine (cornstarch).
