Science: This week we will be working on nonfiction text features with a scavenger hunt covering our book and then we will be moving on to our first major unit: States of Matter, Heat, and Energy. We will be begin the unit by learning how to use a triple beam balance (think a small version of a doctor’s office scale) to calculate mass and will try our hands and massing all sorts of objects!
Homeroom: Dominoes Pizza Night is tonight so if you don't want to cook just kick back, order a pizza, and help raise some money for Wilson's Creek!
Monday: No school (Labor Day)
Tuesday: Today we looked at nonfiction text features and started an acrostic poem to help us remember the purposes for all of the text features. We will finish the acrostic poem notes tomorrow and then complete the scavenger hunt for our textbook before the end of class (hopefully).
Wednesday: Today we continued looking at nonfiction text features and finished our acrostic poem using a line-up and gallery tour strategies to help us remember the purposes for all of the text features. We started the scavenger hunt for our textbook and will finish first thing tomorrow before moving on to mass, density, and volume.
Thursday:Today we finished the scavenger hunt for our textbook and moved on to mass, density, and volume by creating a cover page in our notebooks to preview the section titled "Measuring Matter". Tomorrow we will be looking at the difference between mass and weight as well as learning a little bit about the mass measurement tool, the triple-beam balance.
