Science:
This week we will be starting by looking at the different physical and chemical changes matter goes through before moving on to thermal energy and how it effects matter on Earth. Near the end of the week we will be looking at the differences between heat, temperature, and thermal energy to understand how these things relate to our everyday lives.
Homeroom: Don't forget to return any signed "Mass, Volume, and Density" quizzes that may be lying around. They should be corrected by your student and ready for you to sign!
Monday: Today we completed our notes over physical and chemical changes before participating in a mix-pair-share activity to review examples of physical and chemical changes. We ended the class by watching Dove Ivory soap expand in a microwave to simulate physical changes and then looked at how hand warmers use a chemical reaction to generate heat for a cold day.
Tuesday: Today we read section 4 on "Changes in Matter" using a team reading strategy and then completed a note-taking activity over the reading. We then started on some practice identifying examples of physical and chemical changes which should be finished if the students have not completed them on page 26 of their science notebook.
