Thursday October 3rd

The Plan:
Science:

This week students will be looking at:

·         The heat transfer properties of conduction, convection, and radiation (Chapter 5 Lesson 2)

·         Electrical circuits (including parallel and series) (Chapter 6 Lesson 2 and 3)

·         Test prep work writing essays for our first test on Friday October 4th

Homeroom: Don't forget the study session today after school from 3:30-4:00!

What is Happening:

Monday: Today we:
  • Reviewed the properties of thermal energy and heat
  •  Read about the three types of heat transfer using the student-selected Rally Read strategy (5.2 pages 140-143).
  • Completed a Conduction, Convection, & Radiation pyramid foldable (notebook page 29)

Tuesday:  Today we:
  •  Reviewed our Conduction, Convection, & Radiation pyramid foldable notes (notebook page 29)
  • Completed an exploration of how lava lamps work using heat transfer by completing a diagram and taking observations (notebook page 30)

Wednesday: Today we:
  •  Reviewed our Lava Lamp Example notes (notebook page 30)
  • Completed an exploration of how to properly build a circuit using Brainpop as well as the difference between series and parallel circuits (notebook page 31)

Thursday: Today we:
  • Completed an review of how to properly build a circuit as well as the difference between series and parallel circuits (notebook page 31)
  • In class looked at the rubric used to grade essays in science and talked about how to write a complete essay.
  • We took time to write practice essays based on the essay questions from the study guide.
