Wednesday October 23rd

The Plan:
Science:

This week students will be:
  • Studying Alfred Wegener’s theory of Continental Drift though the creation of Pangaea, an ancient super-continent.
  • Exploring how the Earth is constantly recycling Earth’s crust through mid-ocean ridges and deep-ocean trenches
  • Analyzing the theory of Plate Tectonics, or the idea that all of Earth’s crust is made of tectonic plates which float on top of the Earth’s mantle

Homeroom: Signed tests are due back tomorrow (the 24th). Thanks!

What is Happening:

Monday: Today we:
  • Received our study guide for our test next week.
  • Received back our States of Matter, Heat, and Electricity test to be signed and returned by Thursday the 24th.
  • Completed notes on page 37 of our science notebooks (3.1 notes) and prepared to put together a "Pangaea Puzzle" tomorrow.

Tuesday: Today we:
  • Completed "Pangaea Puzzle" on page 38 of our science notebooks to understand just how Alfred Wegener used fossils to prove Continental Drift.
  • Watched a short music video about Alfred Wegener to reinforce our learning.

Wednesday: Today we:
  • Reviewed our past knowledge from 1.3 and 3.1 to make sure we were up to date on our learning.
