Science:
This
week students will be:
- Classifying rocks in order to identify how the crust is built.
 - Creating sedimentary and igneous rocks in order to understand the processes behind their creation.
 
Homeroom: Signed Food Lab Permission Slips were due yesterday so students may participate in creating edible rock samples!
Monday: Today we:
- Setup up PQR2ST+ notes for 2.2 Classifying Rocks and spent 20 minutes completing the notes.
 - In groups we discussed the many ways to differentiate rocks and what they are made of such as mineral composition, texture, and origin.
 
Tuesday:Today we:
- Finished our PQR2ST+ notes for 2.2 Classifying Rocks.
 - In groups we processed our learning using a "Word Splash" activity to tie together the many concepts from the section and discussed any questions the students had.
 
Wednesday: Today we:
- Completed our PQR2ST+ notes for 2.4 Sedimentary Rocks.
 - We processed our learning by starting a crossword puzzle to prepare for lab tomorrow where we will continue processing.
 
Thursday:Today we:
- Reviewed our PQR2ST+ notes for 2.4 Sedimentary Rocks using a simultaneous round table writing activity.
 - We processed our learning by completing a lab in which we created clastic sedimentary rock.
 
Friday: Today we:
- We processed our lab in which we created clastic sedimentary rock by playing a memory game with trading cards.
 - We created our own silly sayings to help us remember the five stages of sedimentary rock creation (Weathering, Erosion, Deposition, Compaction, and Cementation).
 - Started our PQR2ST+ notes for 2.3 Igneous Rocks (30 minutes in class to work).
