Science:
This week students will:
- Create Igneous and Metamorphic rock to model how these rocks are created deep inside Earth.
- Process our knowledge of the three types of rocks by creating a foldable.
- Begin putting all of our knowledge of rocks into practice by examining the rock cycle, the constant recycling of rock throughout Earth’s Interior.
Homeroom: Signed permission slips for the field trip next week are due along with $7.00 by Thursday the 21st!
Monday: Today we:
- Completed our Igneous Rock PQR2ST+ notes and reviewed our learning from last week.
- We created both intrusive and extrusive igneous rock using food (peppermint bark) to simulate the formation of both rocks.
- We filled out our lab report based on the peppermint bark.
Tuesday: Today we:
- Completed a review activity (crossword puzzle) for both sedimentary and igneous rock to ensure our learning is sticking.
- We began our PQR2ST+ notes over 2.5 Metamorphic Rock in preparation for metamorphic smores tomorrow.
Wednesday: Today we:
- Finished our PQR2ST+ notes over 2.5 Metamorphic Rock.
- Created Metamorphic Rock using smores as our model and completed the lab write-up. Students have all the necessary information to complete the lab booklet and it will be due Friday November 22nd.
Thursday: Today we:
- Wrapped up our metamorphic lab so that our booklets will be ready to turn in tomorrow.
- Started a review and reinforce tri-fold brochure over the three types of rocks which we had 50 minutes to work on today and will work on all day in class tomorrow.
