Friday October 18th

The Plan:
Science:

This week students will be:
  • Completing a foldable to visually prepare a cross section of Earth so we can study its layers.
  •  Discussing Alfred Wegener and his theory of Plate Tectonics and how Earth’s plates move.
  • Quiz on Friday the 18th over Earth’s Layers (1.2) and their properties.
Homeroom: Conference information sheets (yellow) are coming home today if you would like a conference please let us know, though it is not required.

What is Happening:

Monday: Today we:
  • Checked our PQR2ST+ notes with each other and against my notes to be through.
  • Started a foldable allowing us to study Earth's layers and their many parts which should be finished before class tomorrow (should take 5-10 minutes as they had 50 minutes in class).
Tuesday: Today we:
  • Finished a set of questions over our foldable through question number 6.
  • Started to talk about convection currents and how they work in the mantle (1.3).
Wednesday: No School

Thursday:  Today we:
  • Finished completely our foldable questions over Earth's Layers.
  • Reviewed for our quiz the 18th by watching the Brainpop "Earth's Structure" and taking the quiz at the end.
  • Reviewed Conduction, Convection, and Radiation (1.3 pages 18-21) and completed page 21 in class.
Friday: Today we:
  • Completed a quiz over 1.2
  • Reviewed page 21 on convection currents in the mantle in class.
  • Began our discussion into the theory of Continental Drift and the evidence behind the theory.
