Science:
We will continue our Weather Unit by doing the following:
- Identify the 4 common types of air masses.
- Analyze how the common air masses interact along fronts.
- Compare and contrast the 4 major storm types created from air masses.
ADVANCE PLANNING: Study guides for the final test will be coming home Thursday May 8th. The test is scheduled for Friday May 16th.
Homeroom: None
Monday: Today we:
- Completed notetaking over the different types of air masses and then had a class discussion (SN pg 82-83)
Tuesday: Today we:
- Started talking about fronts where air masses collide and looked at three aspects: How the air masses move along a particular front, what precipitation falls along a particular front, and what one would expect the weather to be like after the front has passed though. (SN pg 84)
Wednesday: Today we:
- Finished talking about fronts where air masses collide by completing a matching card sort activity. We used this card sort as a check on our notes (SN pg 84)
- Discussed how when air masses collide it causes the air to mix and swirl, creating cyclones (low-pressure systems) and anticyclones (high-pressure systems).
